One day this summer, Kanye was shopping at Barneys when he spotted a guy wearing a unique pair of shoes. He liked the shoes so much that he tapped the guy on the shoulder and complimented him on his style. The two exchanged info and Kanye later asked him to join his team.

“Kanye was e-mailing Cassius saying, ‘You are an inspiration to me. I inspire people like Rihanna and Beyoncé and you inspire me. I need you during this difficult time,’ ” says Alex Klein, a Yale junior who runs in the same circles as Clay.

Cassius Clay, a 19 Year old Yale sophomore left Yale just after Labor Day and, according to the university, has taken a leave of absence. to become Kanye’s personal stylist — and full-time confidant.

According to friends, Cassius was known for his unique style on Yale’s campus. He would come to class decked out in “Harry Potter glasses, feathered bow ties and Hermes scarves” and instead of a backpack, he carried a $5,000 Hermes Birkin bag.

Since joining Kanye’s team, Cassius has made his twitter account private and has unfollowed all of his friends on twitter. He’s also been hard at dressing him for television appearances, shows and events. And The day after Kanye met Clay, he signed up to collaborate with Stubbs and Wootton, the maker of Clay’s shoes. Clay will be an integral part of this process.
